Junior Choir Festival Friday 11th May 2018
Last Friday the St. Columba's choir went to the Wendouree Performing Arts Centre. We were joined by many other primary school choirs. While we were there we did mental and vocal warmups and learnt a song called the Unicorn. Dan Walker who lead the workshop wrote this song.
The day concluded with a concert. Every choir had a chance to sing a song. Our choir sang Mozart's Floating Zoo as a canon. At the end we all sung the Unicorn song together with over 300 children on stage.
Thank you to Mrs Hackwill who conducted us. Thank you also to Mrs Thorpe, Brenda W, Michelle G, Melinda T, Julie M, Jillian A, Cara McA, Eve R and Theresa H who came along to help with supervision. We also appreciated the help Cathy and Kathy gave us in the office, doing extra jobs.
It nice to see our families and friends in the audience. Thank you everybody who came to watch.
by Darcy C and Olivia K, Choir Captains
I was proud of the choir, particularly the Grade 3 newest members who hadn't performed before. Everyone tried their best and represented the school amazingly. The Unicorn song was touching and I was so impressed that Dan Walker wrote the song and was there with us. Charlotte D, Choir Vice-captain.
It was fun to meet different kids from different schools and all the activities were very beneficial. Dan Walker was very creative, direct when he taught and fun.Zara H, Choir Vice-captain
