Growth Mindset

8/29/2017

Over the next few weeks we will include a reflection from some of our Senior Students on Growth Mindset and the power of YET!
“What would life be like if we had no courage to attempt anything?”
-Vincent Van Gogh

Not everything you’ll do is going to be easy. Sometimes you will need to be brave and step out of your comfort zone to achieve a goal and be successful.

Your life would be boring if you never, ever tried anything new. If you never take yourself further than what you are comfortable with, nothing will ever excite you, make you want to find out more and explore. Always challenge yourself to try something new. As an example, Grade 5 students are offered the challenge to do the Grade 6 CFAT as well as their own. This is one way they can challenge themselves.

Even if you don’t enjoy the new thing you’ve tried, at least you have tried something and gained a skill or had an experience.  For example, on School Sports Day, you may try something like shot put and not like it. But you now know how to throw a shot put and improve the next time you try it.

As Vincent Van Gogh said, what would life be life if we never tried anything new?
