Swimming
This week, the 3/4 students completed their swimming program.
LG2 Gabe Pougnault: I found swimming a little bit tricky at first because I wasn’t use to swimming with lots of people. I ended up enjoying the swimming program and liked doing backstroke the most. I also liked the bus trip because I got to sit at the front of the bus with Sharon and Harry.
LG4 Hannah Dwyer: I enjoyed the swimming program especially when I got to play games with my friends. I found swimming with other people a little difficult at first, but I got use to it.

Haircuts for a Good Cause
Eloise and I grew our hair so that it was 30cm long. Then we went to the hairdresser and she put our hair in a plait and then cut it off so we could donate our hair to kids with cancer.
Our hair was sent off and made into wigs for kids that have cancer and lose their hair.
Eloise and I wanted to do something kind for kids who are really sick.

The new 3/4 Learning Space
LG1 Beau - I think that it is really good that they knocked down the walls and now we work together a lot more now. We work with other kids from other classes.
LG3 Jesse - It’s good to sit with your friends that you never really got to see with the walls up. It’s more quiet because we know we can’t be noisy in this space, and so you get more work done. I like having more independent working time because we get a choice in what we do.

The new space has allowed us to learn and teach in new ways. We still meet in our home groups regularly throughout the day. However we are doing more team teaching, where two teachers teach together, to focus on particular learning goals such as gathering the Grade 3s and 4s separately to learn about Subtraction strategies appropriate to their level. There are many clinics ran throughout the day which target children’s needs.
We meet at least twice a week as a whole community to pray and reflect on how we are working. Together, the students created a working agreement which they all signed to show that this is how they would like things to be in our new space.
