In RE we have been learning about Christian Heritage. We have learnt that two major religions (Islam and Christianity) have come from the mother religion of Judaism.
We have been learning about mosaic patterns in Islamic culture and the geometric shapes formed within them. This also ties in with maths. In Islam a circle represents wholeness, unity and perfection. A triangle represents consciousness. A square represents the four elements; fire, water, earth and air. The last shape included in Islamic patterns is a hexagon, which represents heaven.
We had a go at creating our own shape called a Polyhedra and the finished results look really good.

This term our ERP focus is Health/History. We have been fortunate to have Mrs Cushion, who is a nurse, teach us first aid skills. We’ve learnt about DRSABC, what to do in an emergency and learnt safety tips when cooking in the kitchen. Thank you Mrs Cushion, you have so many talents!
During maths clinics this term, we have been learning how to compare, add and subtract fractions with the same or similar denominators. We were so lucky because we got to eat our work!
