Community
This year, the 3/4 students are talking a lot about what it means to be a part of a community, as we get ready to work as one collaborative group in our new building later in the year. We have discussed what helps us learn best, what we can share with our community, and created norms from these discussions. To practise using teamwork and problem solving skills, the students took part in “The Marshmallow Challenge” where they had to build the tallest tower out of pasta and masking tape that could hold a marshmallow on top.

We have also created a 3/4 Learning Community board in our corridor with the faces of all of the people who belong to our community.
Bulldogs Reading Challenge
Some lucky boys have been chosen to be a part of our Bulldogs Read literacy program for 2017. These boys will be working hard to read and review as many books as they can, which will be published on the Bulldogs website throughout the year. Stay tuned for the link once it is up and running! Last Monday the 13th was the program launch at the Ballarat Library.

Learning
The 3/4 students have already been learning so much, it feels like we have been back at school for a lot longer than 3 weeks! We have been creating “seeds” in our seed books to inspire our writing. Harper from LG3 did this one about her new baby brother or sister due mid year (congratulations!).

We are also learning lots about Place Value, telling the time, and “Personal and Social Learning” in ERP time.
Yesterday was Shrove Tuesday. We learnt about why we have this day and ate a LOT of pancakes...some with very interesting topping choices
