Please continue to keep Blake and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Blake moves to the Transplant Wing of the Royal Children's Hospital this Friday and starts a week of intensive chemotherapy. A Bone Marrow Stem Cell Transplant is scheduled for the following Friday March 10th. Blake will be in isolation for 6 weeks following the transplant, and then depending on his health will have a further 8 weeks recovering in Melbourne. Michelle and Luke, Blake's parents, have asked me to pass on their thanks for the amazing support that has been offered and for all the prayers.
If you would like to support the family financially, please follow the link to the Go Fund Me page or send money through to the school office in a labelled envelope.
Volunteering at St Columba's School
Catholic schools have a responsibility to create nurturing school environments where children are respected, their voices are heard and where they are safe and feel safe. This commitment to protecting children must be embedded in our school's culture and policies.
As a result of the new Victorian Child Safe Standards, all Victorian schools are now required to undergo more vigorous screening and monitoring of volunteers.
Our volunteers are extremely important to us and offer huge benefits to our school community and our students. Not only do volunteers contribute to the pool of resources available, they help us to build a shared sense of community and strengthen the connection between families, parish, community and our school. Volunteers help in all sorts of ways, including in the classrooms, during excursions and sporting activities, coaching teams, selling icy poles and hot dogs, in the Uniform Shop, covering books, organising fund raises and social events to name a few.
ALL volunteers (whether existing or new) now need to complete an Expression of Interest form prior to volunteering at St Columba's. Please click on the link below. The form includes personal details, previous employment of volunteer work related to children and the name of two referees. Once the form is completed, we will email you a link to a short online training/induction module that you will need to complete.
Please note - any person wishing to assist at the school's Athletic Sports Day must complete this Expression of Interest form.
Please see Kim Butler if you have any concerns or questions.
