Welcome back to what is sure to be another exciting term of learning at St Columba’s.
Hopefully all children and families enjoyed the break, especially the few lovely Spring days we were blessed with.
Congratulations to all Tigers supporters on a fantastic season and an amazing Grand Final finish. One very excited Tiger’s fan is Blake Dridan. I visited with Blake during the holidays and it was great to see him looking so well.
This week we welcome Kate Snow to our staff team. Kate is replacing Emily in LG 14 this term, and has been appointed as a full time teacher next year as well. Please make Kate feel very welcome into our school community.
This week we also welcome Naomi Keith, a student from ACU completing placement in LG 7. Naomi will return later in the term to complete her placement.
Changes to Newsletter Timing
After reviewing our current communication practices, newsletter use and feedback related to this, we have decided to trial moving to a fortnightly newsletter. With the number of rapid communication streams we currently have access to, the need for a weekly newsletter to provide dates is limited. Regular updates will continue to be provided through the Skoolbag App and Caremonkey, along with celebrations through the Facebook page. This allows us to ensure that the newsletter is providing relevant and useful information to our families and will hopefully reduce the doubling up of information that sometimes occurs. It also provides an opportunity to ensure that the newsletter fills its intended purpose of informing families about important information related to education and what is happening within the school.
Our next newsletter will be sent home on Wednesday 25th October (week 3).
We would be keen to receive feedback on how the changes to a fortnightly newsletter impact on our communication with you. Please send any feedback to email@example.com
School Community Event - Colour Run
On the morning of Sunday 19th November we will be holding a Family Based Event aimed at bringing our school community together in fun and spirit - a Colour Run/Walk followed by a sausage sizzle at Vic Park. Please keep this date free. More information will follow in coming weeks.
Term 4 School Closure Days
There are two school closure days this term where students are not required to attend school. On Tuesday 31st October, (Week 4) Colin Sloper will be working with staff to further develop our knowledge and skills working as a Professional Learning Community (PLC).

Term 4 sees the return of our summer uniform, including the school hat.
As we are likely to have a few colder days during the first few weeks of term, children may wear their winter uniform if desired. Please note that by the start of November, all children must be in full summer uniform. All children must wear a school hat while outdoors.
We will be running the Scholastic Book Fair next Monday 16th October.
We appreciate all the support from the community and hope that this event solves some of your Christmas purchasing stress.
The students will be timetabled to view the books, assorted stationery and other resources on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th October and make a ‘wish list’ of potential purchases to take home. After considering the ‘wish list’ parents and / or students are welcome to come to the Book Fair on Monday 16th October during the following times.
8.15 am - 8.45 am
10.50 am - 11.50 am
3.15 pm - 3.45 pm
The methods of payment include cash and eftpos.
This event has been very well supported in the past and the transactions during these limited times can be hectic. If you are available to assist on the day please let Cleta Forrest know.
Next week we welcome two Year 10 Loreto students for work experience; Georgia and Nyjal.
