Another week and another move it feels like at the moment. On Monday the 5/6 team spent the day dismantling their existing rooms and moving into their new spaces in the east wing of the Columba building. What started out looking like a nicely carpeted warehouse rapidly transformed into an incredible learning space with only a few little bumps(and a broken wheel) along the way. It is a testament to the incredible professionalism and hard work of the teaching staff that they were able to achieve what they have, with the help of the students, in such a short time.
This brings a highly successful end to our current build project and moves us into a time of both discovery and consolidation within the new environments. The next few years will be exciting times at St Columba’s as we refine our practice and continue to find ways to make best use of our new buildings. I would like to take the chance to thank not only our staff, who have managed with very limited spaces for a long time, but also our parent and student community. Without your understanding and support the wonderful spaces we have now would not have been possible. A special thank you also to those parents who jumped in and helped out with their time during both ends of the move.
With the 5/6 students joining our 3/4 and Foundation students over in the Columba wing there is likely to be significantly more traffic making use of the Gregory St entrance. I would ask our families to be especially mindful of this around pickup and drop off times. Also, keep an eye on our entrance space foyer, changes are coming (and we may have more than just one lonely trophy to display)
A reminder to any families who haven’t already to drop into the office to collect your green ticket for concert seats. Over the next week letters will be coming home with your children explaining any additional items that may be needed for the concert. If you haven’t already can you also please take the time to complete the 3 surveys sent out with last week’s newsletter, your input greatly assists the school and the P&F in directing our efforts.
