BOOKWeek 3 always seems to be a busy one in the life of a school term. We’ve settled back into classrooms and the big ticket items are starting to creep closer. For us this term that means Concert, two weeks out our students are rehearsing steps and practising moves as well as finalising costumes and the all important hairstyles. A final reminder to families if you haven’t already been in to collect your green slip from the office and then purchased tickets from Her Majesty’s please do so this week, time is getting short. Please refer to the Concert News for further details.

Week 3 is also my last week in the acting Principal role and I would like to thank everyone who has made this time an exciting and enjoyable one. It is certainly a lot easier to step into the role knowing you have the support of staff and parents within the community. For myself it has been a valuable learning experience, particularly in preparation for next year. We look forward to Kim’s return next week and the sharing of what has looked to be some incredible experiences as she journeyed through St Columba’s life.

In professional learning staff have been working on our use of flexible spaces to support student learning and have recently reviewed our learning and teaching policy (still in draft form). In addition we continue our work on Child Safe Standards and our upcoming review.

NAPLAN
NAPLAN will be featuring strongly in the news over the coming days as initial results begin to be released, these are average results for the various states and year levels. We expect student results sometime in August and once we have these will take a deeper look at our student growth rates and areas of success and challenge.

Congratulations
In more exciting news we would like to congratulate Whitney & Shane Bruty who recently announced the news that Evie would be gaining a new baby brother or sister. We wish them and their family all the best for the coming joy.

Book Week
This year book week takes place the week of the 19th of August. We will be having a costume parade as well as other class activities to celebrate literature. The theme this year is "Escape to Everywhere". More details to come in later newsletters

Woolworths Earn and Learn Stickers
Starting on Wednesday 26th July, anyone from our School community – staff, parents, grandparents, neighbours and friends – who shops at Woolworths can collect stickers for your kids.  We would love if you could support the school gain valuable extra resources – and let’s stick together with Earn & Learn!  Stickers or completed Sticker sheets can be dropped into the office any time during the promotion.

Next Assembly
Our next assembly will be Friday 11th August at 2.30pm in the school hall.  This Assembly will be a welcome back to Mrs Butler and she will share some stories and pictures from her travels.

At this assembly 8 of our Prep students will be introduced to the school community by their grade 5 buddy.
The following prep students will be introduced:-
Samuel Gleeson, Chloe Pitt, Max Rix, Bailey Stowe, Madison Brown, Patterson Taylor, Nate Cleveland and Aliyah Polkinghorne.
