Next visits Thursday 30th November, Thursday 7th December.
Things to remember for this term:
Advent Celebration Day
Advent is fast approaching and we would like to inform you all of our family celebration at St Columba’s School.
On Friday 8th December we will be having a family group celebration. At 1.50pm students will be asked to go to their family group classroom where they will meet their parents/caregivers. A listing of family groups will be in the office to assist on the day.
There will be a short 25 minute liturgy in your family group area at the beginning of the celebration which will be led by the teachers in your area. After the liturgy, each family will be creating a nativity scene to take home for the Advent season. Students who do not have a parent/caregiver available, will work with learning support offices and teachers in their area.
Please remember for this activity each family will need to have a shoebox (including the lid) for this creation (separate message has already been sent out on skoolbag app). There have been a lot brought to school already which has been great, however we need more. If you find it hard to bring one in please see Torie or Shane.
If you also have any other fabric, hessian or things that would assist in the creation of the nativity sets that would be great!
Thank you so much!

Term 4 Mission - Mini Vinnies
Christmas Hampers
As you are aware our Religious Education lessons this term have been focussing on Mission. For response to our mission effort, the children and teachers from our Mini Vinnies group would like to lead a response for action in our community. We are going to make up hampers of Christmas goodies for those members in our parish who are sick and as a result are isolated from celebrating masses with the St. Columba’s community.
We are asking that each family provide some small items, which along with the children’s decorations and card made at school, could be put together to make a small parcel. These donations don’t need to be expensive. For example, you could buy a small box of shortbread biscuits or a mini sized plum pudding.
The parishioners from St Columba’s parish who take communion to the sick will deliver the parcels to these people. We feel strongly that this action will help to strengthen our school and parish links and give us all the wonderful feeling of reaching out to others in need.
Please begin sending these items into your child’s community where there will be a collection box. We would appreciate it if we could have all donations by Friday 8th December.
Thanking you in anticipation!

The Giving Tree
The children from Mini Vinnies are working together to promote the Giving Tree mission effort. We link closely with St. Vincent de Paul Society members to provide presents for children in our Parish at Christmas time.
By the end of November you will find our Giving Tree in the school office. It will have tags which can be collected to outline the age and sex of the person receiving the present. We ask that you do not wrap the gift.
Thank you for assisting us with this mission effort your generosity will make a huge difference this Christmas.
