- Plastic Free July
To say a goal out loud, write it down or register it in some way (think Weight Watchers!), you become more accountable for your actions. By registering for Plastic Free July you will begin to change your habits and start noticing how unnecessary most single use plastics are. Take the challenge!
Some terrific environmentally conscious students have taken it upon themselves to clean up the yard at lunchtime. St Columba’s is a nude food school however they have been finding many wrappers everyday. Grade 3 student Alex has a tip!
“Instead of buying small packets of chips or popcorn to go in your lunch, you could buy a large family size packet and put some in reusable containers to take to school. That way you are saving money and the environment!” - Alex, LG6.
We have to stop using plastic!
Today I have learned about all the plastic that goes to the ocean, and it is very bad for all the animals around and in the water like the birds, turtles, whales and way more, we need to stop!!
The Government haven’t put down any laws about it yet, but some grocery stores have made it so you have to pay for plastic bags. Now, that's good but we have to stop plastic bags altogether, make a change and take care of your world.
