- School Closure Day
- Book Week Parade
- 3 Way Conversations
- Next Assembly
Concert day has arrived! Today is the day our students and staff have been busily preparing for over the last few months. It is a day of great excitement and we look forward to sharing our many talents with you later this evening.
A few important details to be aware of:
The concert starts at 7pm at Her Majesty's Theatre, Lydiard St.
- When to Arrive:-
To ease congestion we are staggering arrival times for children.
Arrival Times : Prep/1/2 : 5.45pm
Grade 3/4's and 3 - 6 Choir Children : 6.15pm
Remaining Non-choir Grade 5/6's : 6.30pm
Once children have arrived parents, friends and family could perhaps enjoy some refreshments at nearby places like Craig's Hotel, while they wait for the concert to begin.
- Where to Meet:-
Prep and Choir children will meet their teachers in 'Lucky's Foyer' (located downstairs from the main foyer). Staff will be on hand to take children to meet their teachers.
All other children will congregate in the main foyer area with their class teachers.
(Please note: Due to OH&S concerns, no parents are permitted into the dressing room areas without backstage passes)
- What to Wear:-
Costuming from Curtain Call studios will be waiting for the children in their dressing rooms. Children should wear easily removed items such as tracksuits, dressing gowns or jackets so that they are comfortable when off the stage.
Choir children will need to come dressed in their full winter school uniform and bring any costume parts needed in a bag.
School Closure Day
Monday’s closure day saw staff working with Tony Perkins from the Catholic Education Office on preparation for our school review. This day was an opportunity for staff to reflect on the achievements of the last four years and then explore our current reality as a school. From this work we then began identifying some of our core goals that will help drive the next five years of school development. The process was an extremely positive experience as we took time to reflect on the many changes that have occurred in this time and some of the incredible achievements that have occurred. This process will continue later in the term when the School Review panel visits the school and meets with various groups that make up our community. Each of these sessions will then be combined to form our final key school improvement goals. Whilst these will be the big priorities that we focus on as a community, it is also important to remember the countless ‘little’ things that go on everyday to make this school the incredible place it is for all.
Book Week Parade
The Australian Children's Book Week runs from 18-25 August. The theme for 2017 is 'Escape to Everywhere'. This theme invites wonder about the world and the wide variety of humans who live here. The theme also captures why many of us read – to escape – to live inside someone else's mind for a while and to see and feel what they do.
We will be holding a Book Week Parade on Monday 21st August from 9.00-10.20 in the school hall. Children are invited to come to school dressed as a character from a book. Any children not dressing up are asked to wear full school uniform to school.
Ballarat and surrounding towns have been hit with some nasty viruses of late. We have also had a large number of students and staff unwell, including a number of students diagnosed with whooping cough. I ask parents to make sure that you keep your child at home if they are exhibiting any gastro or cold symptoms so that they do not pass their germs on to others. We suggest that medical assistance is sought if symptoms persist.
3 Way Conversations
On Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th September from 1.30 to 6.00 we will be holding 3 Way Conversations between teachers, students and parents. These ‘conversations’ are a fantastic opportunity for your child/ren to share their learning from the last semester and their goals for future learning. Instruction for booking 3 Way Conversations will be on the newsletter next week.
Our next assembly will be held next Friday 25th August at 2.30pm in the school hall. LG 3 will lead this assembly. The following Prep students will be introduced by their buddy at this assembly: Samuel Gleeson, Chloe Pitt, Max Rix, Bailey Stowe, Madison Brown, Patterson Taylor, Nate Cleveland and Aliyah Polkinghorne.
