Term One Week Eight

Some of our amazing Mini Vinnies' leaders at their Commissioning Mass on Saturday night. We have 50 members this year!

Prayer for a Pandemic by Cameron Wiggins Bellm - Thanks to Judith for passing this on

May we who are merely inconvenienced,
remember those whose lives are at stake.
May we who have no risk factors
remember those most vulnerable.
May those who have the luxury of working from home
remember those who must choose
between preserving their health or making their rent.
May those who have the flexibility
to care for our children when schools close
remember those who have no options.
May we who have to cancel a trip
remember those who have no safe place to go.
May we who are losing our margin money
in the tumult of the economic market
remember those who have no margin at all.
May those who settle for quarantine at home
remember those who have no home.
As fear grips our country,
let us choose love during this time
when we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other,
let us find ways to be the loving embrace to God and our neighbour.

Amen.

Emmaus PS Social Justice Visit

Yesterday, two girls Ailish age 11 and Matilda age 9 from Emmaus Primary school, came and talked about their campaigns that they have started.
Ailish’s campaign was Sunshine Letters where she got people from her school and other schools around Ballarat to write letters to the homeless and less fortunate in the Ballarat community. People receiving those letters they then have a little bit of joy in their day. She would then hand them out to the people at the soup bus and the shower bus.
Matilda created a magazine called the Little Issue where she gets family, friends and people from her school to create articles about social justice, craft activities and things like that to put in her magazines. She then publishes them and prints them out like a real magazine and sells them. She has has raised heaps of money and she donated all the money to the soup bus, shower bus and other businesses that support the less fortunate and homeless. Matilda has made 3 series of her magazine and a fourth one to come. These two girls have really inspired the school community and we hope that their campaigns continue to make a difference!
